Police today held four people for their alleged involvement in human trafficking and rescued 10 children from a non-government organization (NGO) office in capital’s Banashree area, agencies report. “We arrested four people and rescued 10 children from the office of a NGO named Adamya Bangladesh Foundation on the fifth floor, Block-C, at Banashree here,” officer-in-charge (OC) Mahbubur Rahman Tarofdar of Rampura Police Station told BSS.
The rescued children were identified as Babul, 10, Abbas, 10 and Swapon, 11 of Bhola district, Akash, 10 and Rafique 13, of Noakhali, Mobarrak Hossain,13 of Comilla, Abdullah Al-Mamun, 11 of Perojpur, Ibrahim, 10 of Narayanganj, Rasel,13 of Memensingh and Forhad Hossain,10 of Maulivibazar.
They were confined there and also brutally tortured in that house since six months, police said. A case has been filed in this connection. The detainees were identified as Arifur Rahman, Hasibul Hasan, Feroz Alalm and Jakia Sultana. Meanwhile, the arrestees during the interrogation, they claimed that they picked up the children for rehabilitation.
Investigation into the matter is going on, OC added.
