Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment Minister Khandker Mosharraf Hossain on Wednesday told Parliament that 1305 Bangladeshis are now waiting to return home after serving imprisonment in Malaysian jails, UNB reports. “As many as 1305 Bangladeshis who are in 11 camps (after serving imprisonment) in Malaysia are waiting to return home. And travel permit also issued against their name,” he said in reply to a starred question from ruling Awami League MP Khandakar Azizul Huq Arzu (Pabna-2).
Mosharraf said on May 31, a total of 1604 Bangladeshis were in Malaysian jails on various criminal charges. In reply to a tabled scripted question from Jasod MP Lutfa Taher (Reserved seat-40), the minister said Bangladesh exports manpower to 160 countries. Bangladesh exported more than 9.3 million, or 93 lakh workers between 1976 and May 2015, he noted.
