2 Hizbut Tahrir men held

Detective Branch (DB) of police arrested two operatives of the banned Islamist outfit Hizbut Tahrir along with a huge quantity of jihadi books from the capital’s Dakhhinkhan area on Sunday evening, BSS reports.

“We arrested Altamas Ahmed Babu and Syed Jane Alam Rubel from in front of Shahi Mosque under Dakhhinkhan Police Station around 5.15pm yesterday (Sunday) for their link to the Hizbut Tahrir,” a DB official said.

DB personnel also seized a huge quantity of jihadi books, magazines and a black bag of laptop from their possession, he said, adding that they confessed their link to the Hizbut Tahrir during the preliminary interrogation.

The arrestees also admitted that they distributed leaflets among the students, teachers, service holders, labours and commoners aimed at misguiding them about the state and the government to establish Khilafat State after toppling the government, he added.

A case was lodged to this end.
