Customs Intelligence officials on Tuesday seized 237 cartons of illegal foreign cigarettes and detained a Pakistani national at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in the capital, reports news agency.
Assistant director Umme Nahida of the Customs Intelligence and Investigation Directorate (CIID) said the Pakistani citizen, Ashraf-Uz-Zaman, landed at the airport from Dubai by an Emirates Airlines flight ‘EK 582’ in the morning. When he was passing through the airport’s green channel, CIID members challenged him and recovered the 237 cartons of cigarette searching his luggage. The seized cigarettes include 120 cartons of Esse Black and 117 cartons of Esse Gold. Customs Intelligence seized 3,747 cartons of illegal foreign cigarettes in a week.
