A three-day international conference on ‘Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) for Sustainable Development’ will begin on Thursday here with a aim to enhance promotion of skilled manpower and create skill culture. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is expected to inaugurate the conference, first of its kind in Bangladesh, at Osmani Memorial Auditorium in the city.
The Institution of Diploma Engineers, Bangladesh and Colombo Plan Staff College (CPSC), Manila are jointly organising the conference in cooperation with the education ministry, Canada and the World Bank. IDEB President A K M A Hamid and General Secretary Md Shamsur Rahman informed this at a press conference at IDEB Bhaban in Dhaka’s Kakrail on Saturday.
Bangladesh Technical Education Board (BTEB) Chairmen Dr Md Mustafizur Rahman, Program Officer at ILO Country Office Dr Hari Pada Das, Skill and Training Enhancement Project (STEP) Deputy Project Director A J M Abdullah Hel Baki and other IDEB office-bearers were present at the press conference.
