Four people have reportedly been detained in connection with the killing of Superintendent of Police Babul Akhter’s wife Mahmuda Khanam, UNB reports.
Denying the detention news, Chittagong Metropolitan Police (CMP) Commissioner Iqbal Bahar said they have been quizzing four people over the murder.
Meanwhile, Babul Akhter filed the case naming three people as accused on Monday night, said Asif Mahmud, assistant commissioner of Chittagong Metropolitan Police.
Police claimed to have recovered a motorcycle used in the killing of Babul Akhter’s wife from Solokbahar area in the city early Monday.
Sources at Panchlaish police station said police recovered the motorcycle from a garage in the area early in the morning. Later, the motorcycle was handed over to the Detective Branch of police.
Unidentified miscreants gunned down Mahmuda Khanam at the city’s GEC intersection on Sunday morning while she went there to drop her son, Mahir Akhter, 7, for a bus to Chittagong Cantonment Public School and College.
