4 die in Ctg road crashes

Four people, including a woman, were killed in separate road accidents on Dhaka-Chattogram highway in Sitakunda and Mirsarai upazilas on Friday, reports UNB.

Three of the deceased were identified as Ruby Akhter, 55, Arif, 40, Kawser Alam, 42.

Masud Alam, inspector of Kumira police outpost, said an accident took place when a pick-up van crashed into a stationary truck in front of Gul Ahmed Jute Mills in Kumira area around 7:00am, leaving the unidentified truck driver and pick-up passenger Arif dead on the spot.

Ruby Akhter was killed following a collision among three vehicles — a bus, a truck and a lorry — in Chattogram’s Sitakunda bypass area around 3:00pm.

In another accident, Kawser was killed and two people were injured as a car hit a batter-run rickshaw at Baropakia of Mirsarai around 5:00pm.
