At least four people including a woman were killed and two others injured in separate road accidents in the city and in Sitakundu Upazila of the district Thursday morning, agencies report. The deceased were identified as Mohammad Shakhawat Hossain,26, hailed from Sandwip Upazila, Ismail Hossain, 47, Anwar Hossain, 50 and Nur Nahar,19.
In the first incident, a minibus turned turtle on Dhaka-Chittagong highway in Bhatiary area under Sitakundu Upazila around 6.30am, leaving its helper Shakhawat dead on the spot, said Mohammad Shahidullah, inspector of Baro Awlia police outpost of highway police.
In another incident, a locally made vehicles Bhotbhoti knocked a rickshaw that left Ismail Hossain, and Anwar Hossain dead on the spot at Sheikhpara area under Sitakundu upazila of the district at 7 am today. Sitakundu Model Thana assistant police super Salauddin Sikder confirmed the matter to BSS.
In the third incident, Nurjahan received serious injury when a speedy Jeep knocked her from behind at 8 am today at GEC crossing in the city. Locals brought her to Chittagong Medical College Hospital but the attending doctors declared her dead.
