That’s a lot of rabbis. Pictured here are some of the 4,550 Hasidic rabbis from around the world who gathered in Brooklyn, New York, over the weekend for the 33rd annual International Conference of Chabad-Lubavitch Emissaries, The Telegraph reports.

Each year, a large number of emissaries of the Chabad-Lubavitch movement gather to “share inspiration, ideas and goals, leaving rejuvenated and ready to carry on their work with renewed vigor and enthusiasm.”The website Chabad.org describes its emissaries, known as shluchim, as “men and women who dedicate their lives to serve the Jewish people.

“They labor to connect Jews to their heritage, raise Jewish awareness and mitzvah observance, and teach Torah.”

In 2011 one Neil Ackerman, lead member of the Chabad Advisory Board, wrote on the site about his experience during his first time attending the conference, saying: “We all felt so lucky to be a part of this unbelievable movement and blown away by how many people—Jew and non-Jew alike—Chabad inspires all over the world.

“I’m so happy I went, and I thank my wife and rabbi for giving me the opportunity. If there’s one thing I learned from everybody I met, it’s that I too can open my home to guests on Friday night.”I too can be more accepting and loving. I too can reach out a helping hand to a fellow Jew who may have given up on an uplifting, nurturing, inspirational Judaism.”
