A Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) mobile court fined five eye hospitals and sentenced four people to six months imprisonment for providing treatment in dirty and unhygienic environment as well as operating without specialized doctors, diploma nurses and medical board. Officials at the Rab-2 headquarters said a Rab-2 team led by its deputy director Dr Md Didarul Alam conducted simultaneous drives in five eye hospitals — Central Specialized Eye hospital and Research Institute, Eye Foundation Cakkhu Hospital, Rohima Eye hospital, Jatrabari Eye hospital and Salahuddin Eye Hospital— in Jatrabari area from 1:00 pm.
During the drive, the elite force found that patients were being treated in dirty and unhygienic environment. Even there was no specialized doctor, diploma nurse, and no medical board. Later, the executive magistrate Mohammad Uddin fined Central Specialized Eye Hospital and Research Institute and Eye Foundation Cakkhu Hospital Tk 1,05,000 each, Rohima Eye Hospital Tk 55,000, Jatrabari Eye Hospital Tk 25,000.
The mobile court also sentenced the owner of the Salahuddin Eye Hospital Md Salahuddin and his three employes Ripan, 35, Shihab Uddin, 34, and Rajibul Islam to six month simple imprisonment, UNB reports.
