5 restaurants fined in city

Several mobile courts here on Sunday fined five restaurants, including KFC and Pizza Hat, Tk 3.40 lakh got making food in unhygienic condition and storing stale and rotten foods, UNB reports. The mobile courts, assisted by police and officials of the Bangladesh Standard and Testing Institute (BSTI), conducted the drive under the BSTI Ordinance 1985 and The Bangladesh Pure Food (Amendment) Act 2005, said a release.

The New Baily Road Branch of KFC, Pizza Hat and Boomers Café were fined Tk one lakh each. Besides, Hotel Nababi Bhoj and Bailey’s Barbeque were fined Tk 20,000 each.
