75 injured in villagers’ clash in BD’s Madaripur

Dhaka-Barisal highway closed for six hours
At least 75 people including policemen and journalists were injured in sporadic clashes between the people neighbouring villages of Tatikandi of Rajair in Madaripur and Charprashannadi of Muksudpur in Gopalganj on Saturday.
The clashes took place at Tekerhat in Rajair over establishing supremacy.
Most of the injured were admitted Madaripur General Hospital, Muksudpur and Rajair upazila health complexes.
Police and locals said the clash erupted around 10:00am following the sequel of enmity between the villagers.
They engaged in fighting with local weapons. They also blasted crude bombs and traded fires.
A branch of Bangladesh Krishi Bank situated at Tatikandi was vandalised during the clash, our correspondent reported.
The vehicular movement came to halt on Dhaka-Barisal highway following the clash for six hours.
Madaripur assistant superintendent of police, Abu Bakar Siddik, said the police and Border Guard Bangladesh personnel brought the situation under control around 4:30pm.
