Natore shutdown for tomorrow
Two activists of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal, student wing of BNP, were shot dead and 15 injured as activists of ruling Awami League and BNP traded gunfire in Natore town this morning. The two groups brought out processions to mark one year of January 5 parliamentary elections. The Awami League observes the day as “democracy salvage day” while BNP, who did not take part in the elections, say it is “democracy killing day”. Rakib Hossain and Raihan Ali Rana were declared dead when they were taken to a local hospital, reports our Natore correspondent. The clash ensued when activists of both the party, equipped with firearms, brought out processions at Tebaria area in the district town around 10:30am, said Munshi Sahabuddin, additional superintendent of police of Natore. Protesting the killing incident, BNP called a daylong hartal in Natore district for tomorrow.
