Around 150 Biman fliers had close shave

Around 150 passengers escaped a possible disaster as a Biman Bangladesh Airlines plane made a safe landing at Hazrat Shahjajal International Airport on Saturday night following a technical trouble in one of its engines, UNB reports. The reserve engine of the Dhaka-bound flight of the national flag carrier from Singapore, BG085, developed trouble while entering the Bangladesh airspace triggering panic among the passengers, but it ultimately landed safely.

“Yes, the airport landed safely at 8:36pm,” said commanding officer of Airport Armed Police Rashedul Islam Khan. Talking to UNB, Rashedul said all precautionary arrangements had been in place around the tarmac, including fire brigade gadgets, to face any eventuality after receiving the alarm from the aircraft. Sources at the airport said the aircraft, sensing then danger, had first moved towards Chittagong Airport for landing, but the decision was changed as the engine was found in order.
