B Chy, Kader Siddique call for level playing field

Politicians, academics and journalists on Saturday at a views exchange programme in the city called on the Awami League led government to take steps for creating a level playing field before the City Corporation Elections scheduled on April 28, agencies report.
Bikalpadhara Bangladesh president AQM Badruddoza Chowdhury, called on the government to take steps for holding three city corporations elections in free and fair manner.
He also called on the government and the Election Commission to take steps for creating a level playing field before the elections, so that the opposition political parties could take part in it and voters could vote their liking candidates freely.
B Chowdhury appreciated the peaceful sit in programme of the freedom fighter Kader Sidique and requested him to take part in the elections to take revenge of the ‘voter less’ national elections held on January 5, in 2014.
Krishak Sramik Janata League organised the views exchange programme in front of party’s central office in Motijheel on the 60th day of its indefinite sit in programme.
The party president Kader Siddique started the sit in programme in demand of the resolution of the current political crisis through dialogue.
Kader called on BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia, to withdraw blockade programme to save the people and also called on prime minister Sheikh Hasina to sit in dialogue to resolve the current political crisis to save the country.
Kader announced that he would continue the sit in programme until the current political crisis was resolved through dialogue.
The three city corporation elections would not resolve the crisis, Kader said.
Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal faction president ASM Abdur Rob, columnist Syed Abul Maksud, former state minister Abul Hasan Chowdhury, National Peoples Party president Sheikh Shawkat Hossain Nilu, Islami Andolan Bangladesh central leader ATM Hemayetuddin, general secretary of the KSJL, Habibur Rahman Talukder, joint general secretary Iqbal Siddiquee, central leader and wife of Kader Nasrin Siddiqe and others also took part at the views exchange programme.
