Bangladesh ruling party AL to join Koko’s funeral

The ruling Awami League (AL) will participate in the funeral of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia’s younger son Arafat Rahman Koko, report news agencies.
Dhaka city AL General Secretary Mofazzal Hossain Chowdhury Maya came up with the development while speaking at a programme in the capital today.
Maya, also relief and disaster management minister, said they would take part in namaz-e-janaza of Koko.
He was addressing an anti-hartal procession at the AL’s head office at Bangabandhu Avenue in the capital.
Mentioning restrictions on Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s entry to the BNP chief’s office last night, Maya criticised the BNP supremo.
He said, “The prime minister went to Khaleda Zia’s office as a mother to console another mother. But it is unfortunate that Khaleda Zia did not meet her.”
“But, still we will participate in Koko’s funeral prayers,” he added.
On arrival of Koko’s body in Dhaka from Malaysia where he died yesterday, a namaz-e-janaza will be held in front of BNP’s Nayapaltan central office in Dhaka after Asr prayers on Tuesday.
After the namaz-e-janaza, he will be buried at Banani graveyard, family sources added.
