Body of missing girl found in Cox’s Bazar

Police recovered the floating body of a teenage girl, who went missing on Wednesday, from floodwaters in Shonaichari area under Ukhiya upazila of Cox’s Bazar on Thursday afternoon, Agencies report.

The deceased was identified as Samira, 14, daughter of one Zafar Alam from the area. She was a seventh grade student of Uttar Shonaichari Ayesha Siddika Balika Madrassa.

Police and locals said Samira was drowned on Wednesday evening while moving from flooded households to shelter center caused by water clogging due to heavy rainfall. The body was carried out in floodwaters and found floating on Thursday.

Ukhia police station officer-in-charge Mohammad Kay Kislo said, police recovered the body on information and will hand it over to family members after completing legal procedures.
