Paul Scully, a British MP and politician of Conservative Party, called on Dhaka University (DU) acting Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Md Akhtaruzzaman at the latter’s office of the university on Thursday,UNB reports.
Chairperson of the Department of Robotics & Mechatronics Engineering of DU Dr. Lafifa Jamal, Professor of the Department of Geography & Environment Nazmun Nahar, Associate Professor of the Department of Computer Science & Engineering Dr. Md. Asif Hossain Khan, Associate Professor of the Department of Management Dr. Shariat Ullah, Assistant Professor of the Department of Organization Strategy & Leadership Md. Rashedur Rahman, Deputy Chairman of Conservative Friends of Bangladesh (CFOB) Abdus Hamid and some other leaders of CFOB were present on the occasion.
During the meeting they discussed various issues including Rohingya crisis. Dr. Md. Akhtaruzzaman stressed the need for immediate deployment of UN peacekeeping forces in Myanmar to protect Rohingya Muslims as well as civilians.
They also discussed the possibilities of undertaking joint collaborative academic and research programs on ICT, cyber security, innovation and entrepreneurship by the University of Dhaka and higher education institutions in UK.
