Bus strike on Ctg-Khagrachhari road called off

The bus strike on the Chittagong-Khagrachhari road was withdrawn on Tuesday evening after three days of its enforcement following to a clash involving members of three transport workers’ association.

SM Shafi, secretary of Khagrachhari Bus-Minibus Owners’ Association, said the bus strike was withdrawn following a negotiation among Khagrachhari Bus-Minibus Workers’ Association, Hathazari Transport Workers’ Union and Nazirhat Transport Workers’ Union.

On Thursday last, transport workers of Khagrachhari locked into a clash with those of Hathazari and Nazirhat centering a trifling matter.

Following this, plying of buses on the route came to a halt on Sunday morning, agencies report.
