Call to set up Circuit Bench of HC in Ctg

Speakers at a views exchange meeting underscored the need to establish circuit bench of HC in Ctg that is the commercial capital as well as the economic lifeline of the country. They made the demand in order to cut time and money and other hassles faced with by the concerned organizations as well as individuals.
“HC’s Circuit Bench Implementation Council” organized the meeting at CCCI auditorium in the city.
“ Chittagong is the commercial capital of Bangladesh and the sea port is also in the region. But We face harassment in complying with such issues as Customs, VAT and other litigations of International Sea Port journeying a long distance to Dhaka” said CCCI president Mahbubul Alam who attended the meeting as chief guest.
“The Chittagong Port drives the wheel of economy of the country” he added as he placed the demand to set up circuit bench with power of admiralty court in the port city within 3 months.
Others hinted to take all-out steps if the demand is not met within reasonable time frame.
Presided over by advocate Abul Kashem and moderated by advocate Shankar Prasad Dey and Kashem Kamal, the meeting was addressed among others by Prof. Dr. Zakir Hossain of Law Faculty, CU, Prof. Dr. Abdullah Al-Faruk, former lawmaker Mazharul Hoq Shah, advocate Enamul Hoq, adv. Shamsuddin Ahmed Mirza, Mahbubuddin Ahmed, AM Anwarul Kabir, Md. Kabir Chowdhury, adv. Kafil Uddin, Sr. adv. Purnendu Bikas Chy, Sr. journalist Belayet Hossain, adv. Sultan A Sabur, adv. Parvez Talukder, adv. Manash Das and advocate Mahfuzul Alam.
Besides, adv. Bazlur Rashid Mintu, adv. Badrul Huda Mamun, Iqbal Hasan, adv Kanuram Sarma, leaders of professional organizations and business firms were also present on the occasion, says a  press release.
