CPB leader killed in Munshiganj

A leader of Communist Party of Bangladesh (CPB) was gunned down at Sirajdikhan upazila in Munshigonj on Monday evening, Agencies report.

The deceased Shahjahan Bachchu was a former general secretary of the district unit CPB and the publisher of Bishakha Prakashani.

Bacchu’s daughter Durba, a student of Dhaka University, has confirmed her father’s death in a Facebook post.

A team of counter terrorism unit of Dhaka Metropolitan Police was on its way to Munshigonj to investigate the incident.

Police said the motive behind the killing could not be known, but they were trying to nab the killers.
