Ctg to turn from one city to town, Work starts in November; Minister tells award giving and certification ceremony of CITF 2015

Chittagong will turn from one city to town through construction of Karnaphuly tunnel starting in Novemenber. The president will inaugurate the project work. Minister for Road Transport and Bridge Obaidul Qader MP said these while speaking at the award giving and certification ceremony of 23rd CITF 2015 organized by CCCI on Monday last as chief guest.
The Dhaka-Chittagong 4-lane High Way work will end in coming June and the entire work will complete by December of which 125km work has already finished, the minister informed. Besides feasibility study of upgrading Ctg-Cox’sBazar Highway to 4-lane funded by JAIKA will start within a week and the 38km road from Baraiahat to Ramgar will also be done by JAIKA in next phase he added.
Presided over by CCCI president Mahbubul Alam, the ceremony was addressed among others by special guests including M.A Latif MP, FBCCI president Kazi Akram Uddin Ahmed, guest of honor Nitol Group chair Abdul Motaleb Ahmed, CCCI Sr. Vice-president Md. Nurun Newaz Selim and vice president Sayed Jamal Ahmed. Besides Shamsul Hoq Chowdhury MP, Indian HC Somnath Haldar, CCCI directors, former presidium and directors, government high officials, business leaders, representatives of organizations, and city elites were also present on the occasion, says a press release.
