Curtain rises on Radisson Blu in Ctg; Full operation of the lone 5-star hotel by mid-april likely

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina  inaugurated the first upper upscale international hotel ‘Radisson Blu Chittagong Bay View’ in the port city of Chittagong on Sunday.

The hotel offering full suite of modern facilities is owned by Sena Hotel Developments Ltd (SHDL). It will be managed by the world’s one of the largest hotel groups Carlson Rezidor.

The hotel with 241 contemporary rooms and suites is expected to go in full operation by mid-April this year. The hotel will be the second Radisson Blu hotel operating in Bangladesh.

The first five stories from the ground have a space of  86,000 sq. ft each while the other floors  from the sixth have 20,000 sq.ft each. Project director of  the 5-star hotel, Chittagong Chapter, Major SM Golam Kowsar told this correspondent that 100% work of the project has completed successfully at a cost of about 500cr TK and the construction firm is Sena Hotel Development Ltd.

The 22-storey Radisson Blu Chittagong Bay View is located near the business hub in Chittagong in the vicinity of M A Aziz Stadium. With 2100 sqm of ballroom and meeting space, the hotel will be an attractive venue for business meetings, social events, weddings, conventions and seminars.

Around 1,000 guests, including Bangladesh government consulates, business leaders and foreign delegates attended the inauguration ceremony held at the ball room of the hotel.

PM’s Special Envoy HM Ershad, Opposition Leader Begum Raushon Ershad, Agriculture Minister Begum Matia Chowdhury, Housing and Public Works Minister Engineer Mosharraf Hossain, Water Resources Minister Anisul Islam Mahmud, Land Minister Shamsur Rahman Sharif, State Minister for Land Saifuzzaman Chowdhury Javed, the chiefs of the three services and high civil and military officials were present.
