Some 71 students and 10 teachers were expelled for adopting unfair means in the Dakhil examination at the Sarda Sundori High School centre in the district town on Thursday, Agencies erport .
A mobile court also sentenced three teachers to one month’s jail each on the charges while the board authorities relieved Maulana Mahmudul Haque, secretary of the exam centre, of his duty for negligence.
The convicts are Md Faizur Rahman, Abdur Rashid Khan and Jasim uddin, teachers of various madrasahs of sadar upazila.
Centre sources said all the students of a hall were given the same MCQ question papers. After noticing the incident, on-duty executive magistrates Parvez Mallick and Shakila Binte Matin informed the deputy commissioner of it.
Later, the DC, additional DC (education) and additional district magistrate went to the centre and took action against the students and the teachers.
