Dallas Police have given the all-clear after an anonymous threat against officers prompted a search of a nearby building, agencies report. The police department received the threat on Saturday afternoon local time and it reportedly contained a message about a group coming from Houston with the intent to kill officers.
One person from the Houston group was spotted in the Dallas/Fort Worth area, according to CBS. A man in black was spotted running into the police carpark building and officers were seen running around nearby with guns drawn.
Police said they are searching for a suspicious person in the parking building, although about an hour later they gave the all-clear without further details. No suspicious person or items were found.
The tension comes after five officers were shot dead by sniper Micah Johnson during a protest in the city on Thursday night. Seven other officers and two civilians were injured. Johnson, a 25-year-old believed to have been acting alone, was killed by a police bomb squad robot.
Other police departments in the US have also received threats, which come after the publication of videos showing police shooting black men in Louisiana and Mississippi.
