Industries Minister Amir Hossain Amu on Sunday said the gas and power connections to Hazaribagh tannery industries will be snapped if those are not relocated to Savar from the capital by December 30 next, News Agencies report.
The Industries Minister came up with the warning while talking to reporters after visiting the Bangladesh Small and Cottage Industries Corporation (BSCIC) industrial area at Hemayetpur here. “All the Hazaribagh tanneries must be relocated to Savar by December 30, or else, the gas and power connections to those will be snapped,” he said.
“Earlier, the tanners had pledged to relocate their factories and, I hope, this time they’ll work as per their pledges,” he added. The minister also visited the Central Effluent Treatment Plant (CETP) at Savar.
Industries Secretary Md Mosharraf Hossain Bhuiyan, Project Director of the Tannery Estate Abdul Quayum and the leaders of different tanners associations accompanied the minister.
