SUPERSTAR Celine Dion was joined by hundreds of her fans as she bid farewell to her husband René Angélil during a public visitation in Montreal, The Sun reports. People were lined up outside the Notre-Dame Basilica when Celine personally greeted them along with family, close friends and politicians inside.

The grieving singer wore a black gown, full length gloves and a net veil, alongside her 14-year-old son Rene-Charles.She was also supported by her mother Therese, 88, and Rene’s brother Andre. Celine’s late husband, who was a manager and mentor to his pop star wife, had been fighting throat cancer for years.

The 73-year-old had been undergoing treatment for the condition but sadly lost his battle last week.  The pop manager leaves behind the couple’s three children, as well as his three grown up children from a previous relationship.  The Canadian songstress, who also lost her brother to cancer just two days after her husband’s death, shared a post announcing René’s funeral would be live streamed around the world.

“From anywhere across the globe, it will be possible to follow René Angélil’s state funeral online tomorrow,” it read.Furthermore, in a touching tribute posted on her Facebook page, she praises the ‘gentle’ man.  And goes on to say: “He will be remembered as a gentle man, generous and kind, an unprecedented visionary, a modern Pygmalion, a Renaissance man.

“All who had the privilege of knowing him and of working closely with him, whether personally or professionally, salute a leader and a man of great intelligence and wisdom. A funeral service for Celine’s brother Daniel is expected to take place several days later at St-Simon-et-Jude Church in Charlemagne, where he was raised.
