Six workers have drowned after a trawler sank in the Dhaleshwari River in Narayanganj’s Sadar Upazila. Though bodies of two of them had been found a little after the accident at Alirtek Union at around 12:15pm on Wednesday, Fire Service divers retrieved the four other bodies after 10 hours.
The vessel, MV Rahmat Ullah, had capsized after being hit by another sand-carrying trawler. The bodies of the four were found at around 10:30pm, Narayanganj Fire Service and Civil Defence Deputy Assistant Director Dinumoni Sharma told reporters.
Authorities identified the victims as Nejab Ali, ‘Sujon’, ‘Sabuj’, ‘Shahin’, ‘Taleb’ and ‘Shariful’. All of them are from Sirajganj, agencies report. .
