Over 15,000 join clean-up campaign
Mayor Sayeed Khokon of Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) has said that city dwellers set Guinness Book of World Record in a symbolic sweeping program of the city with the participation of more than 15,000 people, Agencies report.
The sweeping program “Clean Dhaka” began, around 10:38 am, formally by playing national anthem from Zero point of city‘s Gulistan area on Friday .
The symbolic program ended after a 1-minute cleaning activity.
The DSCC Mayor said, “We have set a new record. We dedicate this record to the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.”
From 7am onwards on Friday, students of schools, colleges, and universities, including teachers and guardians, converge in the Nagar Bhaban (city building) to participate in the event
The previous record was set by India’s Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) on May 28, in 2017, as more than 5,058 people took part in a cleaning drive in the Indian city.
