Stocks continued to gain for eight sessions in row that ended Thursday (November 24) for active participation of investors, Agencies report. DSEX, the benchmark index of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), rose 25.97 points or 0.54 percent, before closing the day at 4791.33 points.
The DSE Shariah Index (DSES) also advanced 4.07points or 0.36 per cent to close at 1133.27. However, the DS30 comprising blue chips rose over 5.46 points or 0.30 per cent to settle at 1769.53.
The total turnover for the week stood at Tk 39,771.61 million which was 28.68 percent higher than the previous week’s Tk 30,906.39 million. .The daily average turnover, another important indicator of the market, Tk 7,954.32 which was jumped up 28.68 percent to the previous week’s Tk 6,181.27.
In the last week, of the traded 330 issues, 227 advanced and 88 declined with 13 securities closing unchanged on the premier bourse.
DOREENPWR dominated the turnover chart with 22.59 lakh shares worth Tk 270.94 million changing hands, followed by BEXIMCO, BBS, GENNEXT and CITY BANK.
The port city bourse Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also finished on positive note, with the CSE Selective Categories Index, CSCX, climbing up to 8962.29 gaining over 32.89 points.
Of the traded issues, 139 advanced and 189 declined with 22 securities closing unchanged.
