A total of 12 jhoot godown (ware house of garment wastage) was burnt due to devastating fire at Mirpur jhoot patti last night, BSS reports. The fire broke out inside a jhoot godown at Mirpur Block-c, Section-10 around 12.18am last night and it engulfed all the 12 godowns within few seconds, said fire service official source here today.
The reason of the fire was not immediately known. “The fire broke out in 12 Jhoot godowns at around 12.18am on Friday and the fire came under control around 12.55am”, said Bangabazar Fire Service control room duty officer Nazma Akhter, adding that the estimated financial loss due to the fire ascertained around Taka 80 lakh.
The fire burnt all the jhoot, pieces of clothes, stockpiled at the twelve godowns-six semi-paka and six kutcha houses-located at Mirpur block-c, section-10. A total of 12 fire fighting units from Mirpur, Tejgaon, Kurmitola and Gulistan Head quarters immediately rushed to the spot and brought the fire under control within 30 minutes, said the official.
There was no report of causalities immediately due to the fire.
