ELURU: In gory incident, a 18-year-old girl was burnt alive by two persons for reportedly refusing to marry one of the accused at Chataparru near Eluru in West Godavari on Saturday. The girl suffered 80 per cent burns and is battling for life. In her statement to the police, she reportedly named two persons Chinna Vikky and Pedda Vikky for harassment and attack on her.
The police said that a couple of months ago, one of the accused reportedly proposed to the girl who in turn rejected it. It is unclear as to who among the accused proposed the victim, but both Chinna Vikky and Pedda Vikky started harassing her.
On Saturday, when the girl was alone at her residence, the accused attacked her and poured kerosene before setting her ablaze. As the victim cried for help, the accused fled from the spot and are absconding. The police have launched a search for the accused, ENS reports.
