Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid today said the government is working to enhance facilities and esteem of teachers as they are the main force of the education sector, agencies report.
“As the government is very sincere to enhance quality of education, we are attaching highest priority to increase salaries and other facilities for ensuring a dignified life of teachers,” he told a meeting with leaders of the Federation of Bangladesh University Teachers’ Association (FBUTA) in the conference room of the Education Ministry here.
The government will sincerely respond to any logical demand of teachers as part of its commitment to increase professional dignity, Nahid said, “I hope you (teachers) will act responsibly for maintaining congenial education atmosphere in the entire academic arena.”
Leaders of the FBUTA placed a set of proposals for enhancing salaries, allowances and professional dignity to the education minister.
FBUTA President Prof Farid Uddin Ahmed, Secretary General Prof Dr ASM Maksud Kamal and senior officials of the education ministry, among others, were present at the meeting.
