A suspected member of banned militant group Hizb-ut-Tahrir was arrested from the city’s Kotwali area on Sunday night, UNB reports.

He has been named as Sabqat Ahmed, 20, son of Kausar Ahmed Chowdhury of Patia Upazila. Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit officials raided Kazi Nazrul Islam Road acting on a tip-off and arrested the youth.

“Sabqat is a Hizb-ut-Tahrir leader,” CTTC Inspector Aftab Hossain was quoted as saying in a statement issued by Chittagong Metropolitan Police. Leaflets, calling for the ouster of the government, were also seized from him.
