Humans could live on the moon within decade as price of getting there drops

WT24 Desk

HUMANS could be living on the moon within a decade because the cost of getting there has fallen so much, experts say, The Sun reports. A group of Nasa scientists and Silicon Valley billionaires want to set up a base at Peary crater at the lunar north pole. It receives the maximum sunlight to produce solar energy, which is vital to power any camp.

The £6.5billion cost is tiny against the £120billion Apollo missions which put 12 men on the moon from 1969 to 1972.  Nasa astrobiologist Chris McKay said: “Previous plans for going back to the moon have been way too expensive.

“New technologies will be incredibly useful in driving down the cost.” The scientists plan a base for up to ten people.
