Country Head of the State Bank of India and Vice-president of India-Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce & Industry Pinak Chakraborty today said an Indian Visa Application Centre (IVAC) will be set up in Rangpur city soon, agency reports. He revealed the information during his courtesy call on newly-elected President of Rangpur Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI) at the RCCI Bhaban here in the city.
Pinak informed the RCCI President that the IVAC will be set up in Rangpur city soon as per the directive given by the Indian High Commission to Bangladesh. “Steps have already been taken for getting a space in Mahiganj area of Rangpur city to set the IVAC through floating tender,” Pinak said adding that the process of appointing necessary manpower for the purpose is now at the final stage.
He sought cooperation of RCCI authority as well as the local people from all walks of the society for properly and smoothly running the IVAC in Rangpur city. According to RCCI sources, the State Bank of India will receive visa applications in all categories at the IVAC as an approved institution of the Indian High Commission to Bangladesh. Earlier, the RCCI President along with the newly elected Members of the Board of Directors of RCCI welcomed Pinak Chakraborty with wreaths upon his arrival at the RCCI Bhaban in the city.
Senior Vice-president of RCCI Mostafa Ahamed, its Vice-president Mozammel Haque Dambel, Director of India-Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce & Industry Moktar Ahmed Sarker, RCCI Directors Partho Bose, Enamul Haque Sohel, Ajay Prasad Babon, Ramakrishna Somani and its former Director Rabi Somani were present.
