Industries Minister Amir Hossain Amu has informed the Parliament that his ministry has no updated numbers or data on how many industries have been as announced sick industries, reports agency. The Minister on Sunday said this while responding to a starred question from Sukumar Ranjan Ghosh (Munshiganj-1). He however said that this type of list has been prepared by the Banks and Financial Institutions Division of the Finance Ministry.
But, he said, as per the directives of the Prime Minister’s Office, the Industries Ministry had formed a task force in 2009 to update the number of sick industries in the country. The task force after scrutinising the applications finalised the list in three phases. The number in the first phase was 264, followed by 80 and 17i n the second and third phases respectively. These lists has been sent to the Bank and Financial Institutions Division on January 13, 2011, April 16, 2012 and June 2, 2012 respectively. Amu also said that there is no state-run industry in these lists.
