An 18-day long national drama festival titled ‘Jatiya Natya Utsab 2016’ began on Saturday in the capital with the slogan — ‘This soil not for militancy, but for humanity’, agencies report..
Bangladesh Group Theatre Federation and Shilapakala Academy organised the festival in collaboration with the Cultural Affairs Ministry. Cultural Affairs minister Asaduzzaman Noor was present at the inaugural ceremony of the festival as the chief guest.
Group Theatre Federation secretary Aktaruzzaman said 58 troupes, including 26 from Dhaka, will stage one drama each at different auditoriums of the city during the festival.
The dramas will be staged in the main auditorium of Jatiya Natyashala, Experimental Theatre Hall, Studio Theatre Hall of Shilpakala Academy and Nilima Ibrahim Auditorium at Bailey Road at 7:00 pm every day.
