The disciplinary board of Jahangirnagar University on Monday temporarily suspended a student and withheld masters result of another student for allegedly abusing two teachers on the campus, reports UNB. A syndicate member, wishing anonymity, confirmed it to UNB.

The expelled student is Khan Muntasir Arman of the 43rd batch of law and justice department and a resident of AFM Kamal Uddin Hall while the other is Nuruddin Md Sanaul of economics department, also organising secretary of JU unit BCL, who is waiting for his masters’ result.

Earlier on Friday, the BCL leader and his associate ‘verbally abused’ two female teachers of the university. The two teachers, associate professor Ummeh Saika and assistant professor Nahreen Islam Khan of geography and environment department, jointly filed a complaint with the proctor’s office on the same day.

In the complaint, they claimed that Sanaul and Arman ‘misbehaved’ and used ‘abusive words’ during an altercation over parking their car on Bottola Road around 1:30pm.

Later from Saturday morning, the geography and environment department suspended their academic activities demanding punishment of the abusers.

Meanwhile, in a reaction to the decision, acting Chairman of Geography and environment department professor Saheed Rashid told this correspondent that they will resume academic activities from Tuesday.
