The government of Saudi Arabia has received approval from Royal Court to reopen manpower market for Bangladeshi workers,reports agency.
The approval reached the Ministry of Labour of Saudi Arabia on Sunday, Bangladesh Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Shahidul Islam said
He said Ahmed F Alfahaid, deputy minister for international affairs at the Ministry of Labour had informed this to him over telephone..
Alfahaid said that a high level Saudi delegation comprising representatives from the concerned ministries would visit Bangladesh probably in a week, according to the ambassador.
The delegation would formulate modalities of the recruitment, he said quoting the Saudi deputy minister.
Saudi Labour Minister Adel Fakeih, after a meeting with Bangladesh Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment Minister Khandker Mosharraf Hossain on Jan 21 said it had decided to lift a 2008 ban on recruiting Bangladeshis.
The oil-rich kingdom still remains the largest manpower market for Bangladesh.
