Locals have reconstructed a protection embankment on the east bank of the Chhoto Jamuna river that broke on Thursday night and inundated the Ikartara area of Naogaon’s Sadar upazila, Agencies report.
Hundreds of locals repaired the 30-feet broken embankment in 10 hours. The embankment is just two kilometres away from Naogaon town.
Locals and people’s representatives in the locality said the embankment became vulnerable since a rise in the river’s water level. Finally, the water of the river broke into the locality around 5:00am on Thursday.
Sensing possible danger, hundreds of people rushed there to save the embankment and they repaired the broken barrage
