A GRIEVING dog has been pictured lying next to its owner – who was run over and killed at the side of the road, The Sun reports. The heart-wrenching snap shows puppy Doki, spread out and motionless next to the body of 23-year-old Leonardo Valdes who was struck and killed by a car near his home in Concepción, Chile.
Emergency crews who rushed to the scene found the helpless dog lying by his side and looking visibly heartbroken. They took a picture of the tragic scene and posted it on Facebook writing: “The puppy of the deceased remained in the spot until the body was removed.”
Doki was eventually taken in by Valdes’ family who said the pup “was up all night” during the wake they organised. The picture has already garnered more than 2,500 likes and has been shared more than 1,2017 times. One commented: “The loyal friend until the end never leaves you – my respects to the puppy.”
Last year, a grieving hound was pictured lying at the exact place his owner Kelly Black, 42, lost her life in a hit and run accident. Another pooch who never fully recovered from the loss of a loved one was the famous Greyfriars Bobby, who touched the hearts of residents in Edinburgh, when he refused to leave the grave of his owner John Gray who died in 1858.
He spend 14 years guarding the grave until his death in 1872.
