Man held with foreign currency at Dhaka Airport

Members of Airport Armed Police (AAP) arrested a man with foreign currencies equivalent to Taka 2.9 crore at Shahjalal International Airport here Tuesday night.
“We arrested one Abdul Kader Lalon, 22, of Syedpur upazila under Nilphamari district, from the departure gate of the airport around 10 last night and seized various foreign currencies equivalent to Taka 2.9 crore,” assistant police super Tanzina Akhter of airport armed police battalion told BSS this morning.

The recovered foreign currencies included – Saudi Riyal, Singapore Dollar, Euro, Kuwaiti Dinar and Arab Emirates Dirham, she added.  Kader arrived at Shahjalal International airport by a flight of Singapore Airlines. He was handed over to Bimanbandar police around 8 this morning, the assistant police super said.  A case was filed under Special Powers Act to this end.
