A 22-year-old meat trader from Jamalpura was brutally stabbed to death by several armed assailants late Friday night in Loni, The Hindustan Times reports.
The police said that the man had been stabbed at least 20 times all over his body, and his private parts had been severed.
Loni residents informed the police when they discovered the body of the victim, identified as Sajid, at an isolated spot on Saturday morning.
The family of the victim has named three persons, Afaq, Haji Liyaqat and Faizal, as suspects in their complaint, on the basis of which as FIR was lodged.
“The victim’s family has lodged an FIR for murder and said that Afaq had called Sajid from his house around 11pm on Friday. Later, Sajid was brutally stabbed to death. His private parts had been stabbed three or four times as well. We also recovered a syringe from the scene of crime,” AK Maurya, superintendent of police (rural), said.
“We are yet to find the motive behind the murder. Prima facie, it appears to be a case of personal rivalry,” Maurya added.
The police said that Afaq was allegedly involved in an attack on Sajid’s brother during the first week of August and an FIR was already lodged at the Loni police station.
“Our brother Shahid was injured during the earlier attack. Afaq was also involved in the incident, in which he fired shots in the air. Afaq is a local goon, but the police are trying to shield him. We are afraid that the accused may lead another attack on our family members,” Chand Khan, the older brother of the victim, said.
On the basis of the complaint, the police have filed an FIR for murder against Afaq, Haji Liyaqat and Faizal.
“None of the accused involved in the case will be spared. We are questioning everyone. A thorough investigation is underway,” Maurya added.
