Noida school student Meghna Srivastava got 449 out of 500 marks in CBSE’s Class 12 board exams, topping one of India’s most watched academic tests, results announced on Saturday showed, The Hindustan Times reports.
Srivastava, a student of Step by Step School, lost out on one point in her English paper. Anoushka Chandra, who studies in Ghaziabad’s SAJ School, scored 498 marks to come second. Seven students shared the third spot, scoring 497 marks.
The overall pass percentage this year 83.01, up one percentage point since last year. The top three regions are Trivandrum with 97.32%, Chennai with 93.87% and Delhi with 89%.
Girls did better than boys with an overall passing percentage of 88.31 compared to 78.09 for boys, repeating a pattern seen for the last few years.
For Class 12, 11,86,306 candidates registered and the exams were held at 4,138 centres in India and 71 centres outside the country.
