Later, Hasina held a press briefing at her residence around 2:30 pm where she said “My husband is alive. Now he is in a mental hospital in Meghalaya. He is well, I talked to him over phone around two hours ago. He said that he is alive and well.” “We are taking preparation to go to India as soon as possible. I am seeking cooperation from the government so that I can reach there very soon,” said Hasina.
She said “the MIMHANS authorities called her over phone first and then gave the phone to Salahuddin.” Expressing gratitude to Allah Hasina said Salahuddin Ahmed sought ‘Doa’ from all while talking to her. She also thanked BNP, 20 parties and media. BNP and Salahuddin’s family members had been claiming that law enforcers picked him up from a house at Uttara on the night of March 10, an allegation denied by the law enforcers and the government.
On May 3, Hasina Ahmed sought Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s intervention to get her husband back safely. The worried wife of the BNP leader submitted memorandums twice on April 7 and March 19 to the Prime Minister’s office seeking Sheikh Hasina’s directives to the law enforcers to return her husband.
