The prime accused in a case filed over an attack on a police officer was killed in a reported gunfight with detectives at Jailkhana intersection of Gauripur upazila in Mymensingh early Wednesday,Agencies report.
The deceased is Ujjal Miah, an alleged drug trader.
A team of Detective Branch of police conducted a drive in the area around 2:00am to arrest Ujjal, said district DB officer-in-charge Ashiqur Rahman.
Sensing the presence of the law enforcers, Ujjal and his associates opened fire on them prompting the detectives to retaliate that triggered a gunfight.

The law enforcement’s version of the event was, however, not verified independently as no version of the incident was available immediately either from any witnesses or from any members of the victim’s family.
