Today(Tuesday)  is the 95th birth anniversary of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, father of the nation.
On the occasion, prime Minister Sheikh Hasina paid tribute by placing wreaths at the portrait of the Father of the Nation Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in front of the Bangabandhu Memorial Museum at Dhanmondi in Dhaka.  Amir Hossain Amu, Tofael Ahmed, Suranjit Sengupta, Matia Chowdhury, Syed Ashraful Islam, Mahbub-Ul Alam Hanif , among others,  joined the party chief in paying respect.

Earlier in the morning, the national and party flags were hoisted at the Bangabandhu Bhaban as well as all Awami League offices in Dhaka and across the country. Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was born on this day in 1920 at Tungiparha of Gopalganj. On Aug 15, 1975 he was assassinated along with his entire family by a group of rebellious soldiers after having led the Bengalis to freedom. Various cultural functions, book fair, gathering of children, and special prayers have been arranged at the grave of Bangabandhu in Tungiparha marking the birthday and the National Children’s Day.

Awami League affiliated organisation, Juba League and Chhatra League have also arranged various programmes throughout the day. Awami League Joint General Secretary Mahbub-Ul Alam Hanif said the accused of Bangabandhu murder would be brought back to the country and maximum punishment will be ensured. The party chief asked the people to rise and unite against all ‘evil forces’, he added.
