Finally, the National Online Media Policy 2015 is set to be disposed of for implementation , a dream BONPA had so long cherished and struggled for. The draft of the policy has reportedly been sent to Information Ministry for disposal. The policy, in the form of circular will be published  after approval in the cabinet meeting, Draft Policy Committee and Information Ministry sources said.

Earlier, a  decision on the policy was made at a meeting of National Online Mass Media Policy Committee at 11.am on March 16 last held at PID VIP conference room of the secretariat.
Chaired by Chief Information Officer Tasir Ahmed of Information Ministry, the policy finalization meeting was addressed among others by IT specialist Mostaf Jabbar, BONPA president Shamsul Alam Swapan, NIB Editor, Barrister Zakir Ahmed, V-News Editor, Joyanta Acharja, BTRC Asst. Director Zakir Hossain Khan and Deputy Secretary Mohammed Ismail Hossain.

The clauses and sub-clauses of the policy as discussed earlier will remain the same with some insignificant changes, said a press release.

Meanwhile, the editors and journalists of online news portals hailed the government initiative as part of making digital Bangladesh a reality. Mentionably, some news portals like the report 24.com allegedly opposed the move  though the policy is ultimately going to be realized.
