Nissan Motor Co. has reported to the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration that it will recall 298,747 vehicles in the United States for a possible braking interference problem, The Japan Times reports.

The Japanese automaker is recalling the 2012-2015 models of the Versa Sedan and the 2014-2015 models of the Versa Note, according the report. Drivers’ shoes may catch on the edge of the center console lower trim panel, impeding quick movement from the accelerator to the brake pedal and increasing the risk of an accident.

The NHTSA has investigated this issue after receiving complaints from vehicle owners.
